Various methods of control of deterministic chaos will be presented. As a special case the time-delayed feedback control will be discussed in details. It will be shown that there are general features of stability doamins for such a control which can be predicted analytically. A single delay term can only stabilise orbits with short periods or small Liapunov exponents. The limitation can be relaxed by employing multiply delay terms. Analytic calculations are in a very good agreement with results of numerical simulations and with experimental data from a nonlinear diode resonator.
